Things on earth

  1. On earth things break down, tear up, wear out, cave in, rust, corrode, get eaten by bugs, or stolen. Hold things lightly. Hold on to eternal hope tightly.

  2. Sometimes a paraphrase captures the idea better than a literal translation. J.B. Phillips translation into Portuguese, of Ephesians 5.19, is very fine.

  3. Tell me again that all the mess and work and cost of home renovation will be worth it.

  4. If God were not sovereign, the world and even the church would be scary places.

  5. A short prayer started here grew and moved to Believing Prayer: “Lord, Fight My Battle for Me.”

  6. An original verse: Only when we leave the past behind, / The path of peace and fullness can we find.

  7. A Bible verse: “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on his faithful followers.” Psalm 103.13 NET.
