Focus on others

Up and at it early. Much to do. Although one afternoon commitment got cancelled. Guy has a headache. Day just became a tad lighter, but I pray the fellow improves. And comes to the gospel.

Thought for the day:

Focus on others. Serve with gladness. Be like Jesus. The less you think of self, the better you’ll be.

7P: Long week with many blessings

  1. Has been a long week. Many blessings perceived in the midst of hard times.

  2. Hard times can bring you together or pull you apart. Which do you want them to do?

  3. Bible reading last night (10 to 10.30 pm!) at the gym focused on Psalm 1. Good text for non-Christians.

  4. Brazil turned Black Friday, in many businesses, into Black Week and Black November. No White Christmas here, so …

  5. Study late, study early. Tomorrow, at 6.30 am, with neighbor. We’re working on the covenants.

  6. Original verse: Where’s that special niche for me, / And what is my own voice? / To find and use my gifts from God / Will cause me to rejoice.

  7. A Bible verse: “… the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” Mk 2.10.

Study with new couple

Vicki and I sat down with the parents of our neighbor Paulo this afternoon, and with a family friend who was staying with them while recuperating from pneumonia. Paulo was also present. I presented a lesson about Jesus from John 1.1-18, with a two-page outline. Sr. Vicente and D. Georgina are very religious and committed to their tradition, so it will be a challenge as we present the gospel to them. D. Georgina prepared coffee and cake for us after the study. Paulo took the photo. They live on the east side of the city. We’ve had a good bit of contact with them through Paulo, as we’ve joined them in cookouts, watching the World Cup, and other get-togethers at his house.
