Ed M.’s devotional today, based on Lev 2.13, reminds us from the Old Testament background that salt has to do with covenant. That puts a new spin on verses like this one:

Today believers are to be “the salt of the earth,” Matthew 5:13a. They are to remind others of the presence of God, of His covenant He offers to them. This is only possible when we have salt in us.

Focus question: What are the terms of God’s covenant for me as a part of his people? How do those terms project me into the midst of the uncommitted world?

What say you?
