Just Say the Word

O Lord — just say the word and heal
Your anguished servant, lying in pain —
From heaven’s heights please hear his appeal —
Let not his pleas go unheard, in vain.

Unworthy is he, and humble his house,
So weary not your feet divine —
Just say the word that he might rouse
Himself with strength in spirit and spine.

Let your servant hear a command —
Effective still though said from a distance —
Let powers lift up his head and hand,
Give hope and life and new existence.

Lord, you are just in all your ways,
For grace is present at every turn,
With every step there’s much to learn.
In pain or peace he’ll sing your praise.

    What say you?
